No Front Door was inspired by a story my father told one Christmas about visiting a childhood friend and discovering his home had no front door. I quickly made up a story of an alcoholic father letting the house fall down around him while the family shivered and scribbled it on a napkin in 5 minutes. It's a mournful and sad song but a musical journey in itself with pedal steel guitar complimenting the acoustic guitar and vocals while the song slowly builds to a climax with strings and horns.
